Second ask yourself where you plan to use the lamp. If you plan to light a big room with an undecorated wall a small lamp may feel unnecessarily tiny. A tall lamp may be more appropriate. Of course if you would like to place a lamp on top of a bookcase in your study a small lamp may work perfectly. Third ask yourself if you can live with a particular lamp style over time.
